KMAT (Koketso Reabetswe Mathabathe)
Class of 2017 · DJ

“I discovered my passion for music as a small child when I started singing in the church and school choir. In my final years of high school in a convent, I was the choir conductor.”
A Loreto matriculant turned global voice for South African electronic music. After Loreto, KMAT trained in DJing at Boston College and completed a degree at Tshwane University of Technology, launching her professional career in 2020. Dr Mpho Phalatse
Class of 1994 ·
Former Mayor of Johannesburg
“I matriculated from Loreto in 1994, at the height of our country’s democratic transition. In Grade 11 the two classes in my grade were merged to integrate a minority, highly politicised cohort with a majority, racially cohesive one. The mission of rooting out any whiff of racism through cultural assimilation was clear. My highlight was walking hand in hand from school with a multiracial group of friends, chanting “Kyk ons is vry, die nuwe Suid Afrika”. Probably my political awakening.”

Fatima Rawjee
Class of 1999 · Board Chair
MD Blue Pyramid
“The standard. Not just academic — the standard of how you were expected to carry yourself. Loreto taught me that discipline and warmth are not opposites. The teachers were demanding because they believed in what we could become. That stayed with me long after matric.”
“I have sat across the table from Ministers, Directors-General, and CEOs. I have built a business from nothing and led governance reform at national level. Every time I walk into a room and hold my ground, I am drawing on something Loreto put there first — the conviction that a woman from Nana Sita Street can lead anywhere.”
“I came back to chair the Board because I believe in paying forward what was given to me. Loreto made me. The least I can do is make sure it does the same for the next generation.”

Sherilyn Haupt (née van Niekerk)
Class of 1977 ·

“What I enjoyed most about my time at Loreto Convent School was the fact that I was pushed to do my best academically, but it never felt overwhelming because there was as much emphasis on personal growth and community.”
“The relationships I built — both with teachers and fellow students — really stood out. The teachers were supportive and genuinely invested in helping us succeed. At the same time, the friendships I formed were shaped by respect and encouragement that the school naturally fosters.”

Mmule Sapula
Class of 1999 ·
Portfolio Exec, Nedbank
What has stayed with me from Loreto is the conviction that talent comes with responsibility. Whether I am leading a strategic technology portfolio or building high performing teams, I am drawing on the same lesson: lift others as you climb. That is a Loreto value, and it has shaped every chapter of my career.

Boitumelo Mosupyoe
Class of 1999 · Alumni Lead
CEO, W.O.L.F.
“I left Loreto in 1999 but I never really left behind what it taught me — to see people, to serve, and to think about the broader community. Everything since has been an extension of that. Being back feels like home.”
Boitumelo’s career began at IQ Business, where Corporate Social Investment work — organising youth camps and community initiatives — revealed her calling for youth development. That commitment continued at the Production Technologies Association of South Africa (PtSA), championing students training as Toolmakers, and has now evolved into The Worth of Life Foundation (W.O.L.F.), where she serves as CEO. Holding a BCom Informatics from the University of Pretoria and a Project Management qualification, she leads the Alumni Committee’s Mentorship & Youth portfolio — translating two decades of youth development experience into structured mentorship programmes that connect established Loreto graduates with emerging leaders.

Tech Startup Founder
“I enjoyed the safety of being in an environment that I knew wanted the best for me — being amongst women who would later become sisters to me, and being taught by passionate teachers who always went the extra mile.”
“Loreto grounded my relationship with God more than most other places. From Religious Education with Miss Nyirenda to participating in Mass and being in our school choir, I never forgot the teachings and ethos of service instilled in me. To this day I find myself still saying and mostly believing the words: ad majorem Dei gloriam — all to the glory of God.”
Ofentse lives with albinism and visual impairment. She works with reasonable accommodations including visual aids, large text, and task lighting — disclosed in her own words and in keeping with the dignity of how she introduces herself professionally.

Therešo Kekana CA(SA)
Class of 2013 · CA(SA)
Financial Manager
“My time at Loreto shaped far more than my education — it shaped the woman I became. In the sisterhood of an all-girls school, I learned to embrace my voice, walk boldly in my purpose, and carry myself with grace, strength, and humility. Loreto taught me that true leadership begins with character: leading with kindness, serving with compassion, and standing firmly in faith. The Christian values instilled in me became a lifelong compass, guiding how I lead in boardrooms, build relationships, and navigate life — with integrity, courage, and a heart committed to reflecting Christ in all I do.”

Yunus Rocker
Loreto Primary ·
Team Leader, McKinsey
“Loreto gave me my first foundation. The discipline, the structure, and the care of teachers who paid attention — that started at Loreto primary school. When you are a young boy in an environment where standards are non-negotiable, you absorb something that stays with you. I carried that into high school, through university, and into nearly twelve years at McKinsey. Loreto doesn’t just educate for the classroom. It builds the kind of person who can walk into any room and deliver.”

Didintle Pinkie More
Class of 2021 ·
Big 4 Audit Professional
“Loreto was warmth in winter, muffins shared, and teachers who spoke life into me as though they were given a memo of who I ought to be. It shaped my confidence and gave me a strong academic start. To any family considering it today: you’re choosing a place that truly sees each child, nurtures their potential, and believes in who they can become — even before they believe in themselves.”

Metja Montana
